CONTINUING ED QUESTIONS

Yes! We have been a licensed school (license #1214) since 2008. You can find our school name listed on the Massachusetts Board of Professional Licensure website.

Massachusetts agents and brokers are eligible to complete their required 12 hours of continuing education online at any time. If you are an agent or broker, you need 12 hours each 2-year cycle before renewing your license on your birthday.  You don’t need to wait till the week before your license expires to get started!

Every 2 years, Massachusetts agents and brokers need to complete 12 hours of certified education courses from a school that is licensed, like ours.

On our site, once a student completes 12 hours — six courses — they will be issued a certificate. This certificate can and should be printed out and stored in a safe place. Presently, the state does not want certificates mailed to them, but there is a chance they may contact you during an audit and ask for a copy of your certificate to verify that you took your continuing education.

If your license is not currently active, however, the state may request a copy of your certificate if you are re-activating an expired license.

Our 12-hour course allows you to take 12 hours for a certificate and continue watching all available courses as/if you wish. You have more choices than the minimum six 2-hour courses, but you will be issued only one certificate for 12 hours for the one-price, one-year period. In other words, credited hours cannot be “carried forward.” Even though we offer more than 12 hours worth of credits we do not issue credits for any additional courses you watch during your sign up period.

If you need just 2 hours, (say, for example, you need only an ETHICS course to meet your bi-annual Realtor(R) requirement), you can sign up for and watch our videos separately for a 2-hour course module credit and a 2-hour certificate. Scroll down on the Continuing Education page to see the option for purchasing videos separately for $10/each. So, $10/each or the whole package of videos for one great price.

Alternatively, if you just need credit for 8 or 10 hours, because you completed a few hours on some other site and got bored, you have a few options. Best is to buy the suite of 12 hours for unlimited access. Complete 12 hours (6 courses) and automatically get a certificate for 12 hours. Or, if you are in a time constraint, complete the hours you need and give us a prompt so we can produce a certificate documenting your hours of completed courses. Note, you need to complete the 3 segments of 1 course to get credit for that course.

The State of MA requires 12 hours of continuing education. In theory you could complete the course in just 12 hours – if you did a marathon session watching our online video courses back to back. But it’s not likely you have a free 12-hour block to do that, plus you wouldn’t retain very much of what you learn.

How quickly you complete your mandatory 12 hours is really up to you. Note we have divided the courses into bite-sized chunks of approximately 40 minutes each to make it easy to work them into your schedule and watch at your convenience.

Absolutely not (and we recommend against it!). Each 2-hour course module is split up into three segments of approximately 40 minutes each. Each segment must be viewed in its entirety for you to receive credit. You may stop and start as you wish, but you may plan on attempting to watch in 2-hour or 40-minute segments along the way to your 12 hours.

You can only fast forward a video to the furthest point that you have already seen. And if you try to drag the slider ahead it will just bounce you back. It’s set up this way to prevent accurately document that you have watched and not just fast-forwarded through the content. Please note that the state requires you to watch a full 12 hours to complete your continuing education requirement, and also requires us to set up our online video courses in such a way that we can provide reasonable assurance that you’ve watched a full 12 hours.

Once you complete the last 40-minute segment of the entire 12-hour course, you will receive an email within 10 minutes with your certificate of completion. Occasionally the email containing the certificate is filtered to your spam folder so be sure to check there if it doesn’t show up in your inbox. You can also log into your profile and click on “certificate,” and then open the little GetMy12Hours icon to see your certificate.

That’s unlikely to happen as the name on your certificate will be the same as the name you entered when you signed up. You will be asked your first and last name when you sign in as well as your license number. You may choose a username while taking the videos, but you will want to fill in your legal name correctly. And if you made a mistake, you can simply edit your user profile and get a new certificate. But if you’re having trouble, not to worry. Just send us a note to support@metropolitanbre.com with the appropriate information to correct the certificate and we’ll take care of it for you right away.

We take the same steps of the major online retailers to ensure the security of your credit card information. You’ll notice when you’re on our registration page that the URL is https and not just http. The “s” at the end indicates that the page is secure and the data you enter will be encrypted. For a further explanation, google: “what is the difference between http and https?”

Please send an email to school@metropolitanbre.com. We will respond to you as soon as we possibly can!

TECH/WEBSITE QUESTIONS

Our videos can be viewed from any Internet-connected device that has a browser. You can watch from your desktop or laptop computer, tablet, or your iPhone or Android phone, too. Just make sure you have a good internet connection! (Weak 3/4g connections aren’t ideal.)

The video technology we use is playable on any internet-connect device with web browser capabilities. If you can view the video located at the top of our continuing ed page, you will be able to view all of the videos.

First, check to be sure that you are actually logged in to your account. Simply click the LOGIN link located at the top right corner of every page to go to the sign-in page where you can enter your username or email and password to sign in. You should automatically be taken to the COURSES page where you will find a link to continue your courses. If you already are logged in, your username will appear in place of the LOGIN link and you can also access your Continuing Education video courses by clicking on your username, and then selecting COURSES from the drop-down menu.

No problem. When you click on LOGIN link at the top right corner of the page, the login box that pops up will have the links “Forgot Your Username?” and “Forgot/Lost your Password?” Clicking either will take you through the steps to recover either your username or your password, using the email you used to sign up. Note you may also use your email in place of your username.

No, each 2-hour course module is split up into three segments of approximately 40 minutes each. Each segment must be viewed in its entirety for you to receive credit for the 2-hour course. Our video player remembers where you left off so, if/when you log out and log back in, the video will start playing where you last left off.

You need only 12 hours — 6 courses — for the required certification, but you are welcome to continue to watch as many hours as you wish for free for the rest of your year’s subscription. Only one 12-hour certificate will be be issued per registration.

You can only fast forward a video to the furthest point that you’ve already seen. And if you try to drag the slider ahead it will just bounce you back. It’s set up this way to document appropriately that you have watched the material and not skipped forward to the end.

Please note, the state requires you to watch a full 12 hours to complete your continuing education requirement, and also requires us to set up our online video courses in such a way that we can provide reasonable assurance that you’ve watched a full 12 hours.

Don’t panic, and there is no need to watch any videos more than once (unless you want to). There are three possible explanations: First, the credits for watching the video will appear once you load the next video or refresh the page. Second, our system is set up to record a completion once the entire video is done playing. For example: If you’re watching a 40 minute video, please ensure that you’re not starting the next video at 39 minutes and 40 seconds. If the video doesn’t play all the way to the end (so there is no time left) then it won’t record as completed. Third, it is likely that the video was recorded as completed in our records so keep moving forward with watching more videos and once you complete 12 hours worth you’ll be able to download your certificate. If you are still having trouble, simply contact us at support@metropolitanbre.com and we will assist you.

Don’t worry, it probably just means you lost your internet connection for a moment and therefore the video feed stopped coming to your computer. Simply refresh the page and you can fast forward to where you left off. If you’re using a PC, the best way to refresh the page is by clicking the control key + the F5 key at the top of your keyboard. That does a full refresh on your browser. To fast forward, click (sometimes you might have to double click) on the timeline around the area where you left off. Keep in mind, the program does not allow you to fast forward beyond the part you’ve already seen, so if it doesn’t seem to be working, try fast forwarding to a spot that is few minutes before where you left off.

Just refresh the page. (If you’re on a PC, push control + F5 (the F5 key at the top of your keyboard) and start the video again.) Our system will remember where you left off, but in the case that it doesn’t pick up where you left off, you can fast forward to where you were.

If your question was not answered in our FAQ section, please email your question to support@metropolitanbre.com. We will respond as soon as we possibly can!

PRE-LICENSE CLASS QUESTIONS

Yes! We have been a licensed school (license #1214) since 2008. You can find our school name listed on the Massachusetts Board of Professional Licensure website.

Our pre-licensure course is 40 hours total. We generally offer two classes per month. Each class is an accelerated schedule of four 10-hour days, starting at 9:00 a.m. Students must be prepared for a 10-hour day. You can choose either Saturdays & Sundays OR Tuesdays & Thursdays. In most cases these classes are offered in consecutive weeks.

Students need each of the days in the sequence of four days. Make up days can be scheduled in the corresponding day in a later class for a rebooking fee of $50/day.

See current class dates on our GET LICENSED page. If you’d like to be on our list to receive early notice of upcoming classes, just send us an email at school@metropolitanbre.com.

A comprehensive study book is included with your class. We offer students additional study books at a deep discount if they choose to supplement their study. Because we have 30+ hours of online Continuing Education, we offer our Pre-Licensure students FREE access for 6 months to these high-quality, informative, and even sometimes entertaining, videos.

Luckily, we have all-day FREE street parking available within just a block or 2 or 3 from our classroom. We are conveniently location to public transportation. Students generally take a bus right to our door from one of these subway lines: Green (Lechmere), Orange (Sullivan Station), Red (Davis Square). We will send detailed free parking directions to students before the first day of class.

CLASS LOCATION: 490 Broadway, Suite 1, Somerville. MA 02145.

Find the date that works for you on our GET LICENSED page. To register, click on the class date that works for you and purchase it through the shopping cart. Once you’ve paid, you will be entered onto the class’s roster and will receive an automatic confirmation/receipt by email.

Not long after that, you will receive another email to give you more details like what to bring (stuff for taking notes and a positive attitude!); where to park (for free!); where to get snacks or lunch during the quick class breaks (lots of good places!). We also provide you in advance more details about the next steps to getting a real estate license as well as details about our cancellation and rebooking policies.
